Placement Optimization Software for Apollo Formwork System — an AutoCAD extension that analyzes outline drawings of concrete structures and automates formwork calculations, cutting turnaround from weeks to hours.
The challenge
Formwork placement for concrete structures was, before this project, a manual and time-consuming calculation process for AFS's engineering teams — every outline drawing had to be analyzed and translated into a formwork plan by hand.
FoxyCode built POS as a direct AutoCAD extension: it reads outline drawings of concrete structures, runs the placement-optimization logic, and outputs a formwork plan inside the same tool engineers already work in, with 3D visualization to sanity-check the result before it goes to site.
The result
By moving the calculation into an automated AutoCAD workflow, turnaround for a formwork plan dropped from a multi-day manual process to a matter of hours, directly cutting the engineering cost per job.
AFS's team can now handle a higher volume of projects without a proportional increase in engineering hours spent on formwork calculation.
